Some Hand Planes

In Memory of Gerd Fritsche

It is with great sadness that we write to inform you that Gerd Fritsche passed away in September 2022.

His passion, hobby, and profession

The quality of traditional woodworking depends mainly on three things, raw materials, personal skills, and hand tools. But high-quality hand tools, especially hand planes, are hard to get. Some good, industrially manufactured hand planes are available, but they can't match those from great toolmakers from the beginning of the 19th century. Realizing that, Gerd decided to build them by himself using his professional toolmaking skills and the best materials he could find. The results were more than satisfying...

On this homepage, you can find some of Gerd's hand-made planes.

Thank you for your visit!

Greetings from the Lake of Constance,
The Fritsche Family
